The World Academy is co-sponsoring a conference on “Humanities in the Contemporary World” in Montenegro on June 7-9, 2012 in collaboration with the Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts. One full session will be dedicated to the Academy’s project on The Emerging Individual. Fellows of the Academy interested in presenting papers or attending the conference are requested to inform us and submit abstracts of papers by February 15th.
The pioneer, adventurer, inventor, commercial and social entrepreneur, political innovator, original thinker and creative artist are notable expressions of how individuality contributes to the development of society.The conference session will focus on topics such as
- Conceptions and characteristics of Individuality
- The historical evolution of individuality
- The role of the individual in the development of the social collective
- The role of the community in fostering the development of greater individuality in its members
- Individuality, Human and Social Capital
- Individuation and Spirituality
- Individuality in human relations

- Humanities and politics
- Humanities and global culture
- Humanities and nationalism
- Humanities and socio-economic competitiveness
- Expanding existing science/humanities collaborations
- Developing practical alliances between scientists, engineers, social scientists and humanists
Fellows interested in presenting papers on any of these other topics may submit abstracts by February 15th. Momir Durovic, WAAS Fellow and President of the Montenegrin Academy, has kindly offered to cover the local expenses for WAAS participants.
